Outside Riding
I was finally able to ride outside yesterday! I was so excited. I rode for 2 hrs in the cold of the Okanagan with Owen and Tim. Hopefully tomorrow I can ride for another few hours outside, and hopefully get in some XC skiing this weekend. Maybe the ski hill will be above the fog line. All week K-town have been covered by think fog, which doesn't allow any sunlight through or even any blue sky!

Back to Training!
So I headed off the gym before I started school this morning. I wanted to hit some weights and see how my leg felt. I just did 2 easy sets on leg press, squats and hamstring curls. Felt great, no need to hold back anymore. Training is back full on now. I can XC ski, weightlift, snowshoe, and spin. I am so excited, It felt like there was something missing from my life, I has so much time to just lay and around and so nothing, it felt so weird, because I haven't done that in years. But now since first semester is ending training and studying might be a bit of a crunch, but thats only until next friday.... Yipee! I went to a kineseologist today to get my leg checked out even more and get some exercises to help fix the problem. She gave me some awesome non-weighted exercises to strengthen my glutes, also got some really good stretched to really stretch out my IT band, ans managed to also get some even more crazy CORE workouts.

Snow Again
After I went and got my knee checked yesterday I was able to spin. I spun for a while, did a good long effort, and a bunch of one leg efforts. Which felt awesome, I haven't done anything intense in over a week, which is killing me. Then I iced my whole IT band after while I laid on the couch and watched some TV. Today I wanted to get outside for a couple hours on the bike, as my knee is now feeling 100%. But I woke up to 4 inches of snow this morning. Which really sucks, because I thought the snow was going to leave us and spring would start to come, but I was wrong. I really wanted to get outside and do something, either XC ski or snowshoe. But spinning seems to be the safest thing right now. I was able to get in a good spin again with a nice long effort. All I have to do is stretch before I spin, and ice after and everything feels great! Just going to do some CORE until my abs give out on me and then give me leg a good stretch later on. Only have two more weeks left of really school until I have two easy courses every second day for 2 hrs. I am super excited, as I can train much more and concentrate on the season. Exactly one month now until I head down to Palm Springs for almost two weeks of training.

Knee
I went to Okanagan Health and Preformance ( OHP ) today to get my knee finally checked out after almost of a week of nothing. I got some rad massaging and stretching of my IT band which connects into the outside of your knee. This really loosend it up. I can walk normally which is the first time in over a week. I am in to see a kineseologist Monday afternoon to get some more work done and get some exercises to strengthen it. The ART chiroprator said today that it should be back to normal in a few days if I do these insane stretches she shows me and ice my whole IT band a couple days a week. By next weekend I should be back to full force. I am aloud to train on it now, just lightly and stop when it starts to get sore. Im excited that it didn't turn into anything serious, because that would have sucked!

I finally booked my flight to Palm Springs today, I had to leave on the 11th instead of the original plan on arriving on the 12th. But that's fine by me, as I will get a little ride in and soak up some cosmic rays. I have a hotel near the airport, so I can just meet Owen, Ev and T A there on the 12th and then we can make a long 20 min journey the Desert Springs, CA. We rented out a house last year in the same town. It was a fun filled week as we all put in over 20 hours on the bike. Flater stayed down longer than us last year so hopefully he can show us some new routes down there, if I have to ride on Dillion rode again I might have to commit suicide. On the 15th the rest of the gang arrives so put on a heavy week of riding. Some riders will be fresh off the Valley of the Sun Stage Race in Phoenix, AZ. Hopefully by the 15th we will have already ridden a good 10 hrs or more to get a jump on the week.
The knee isn't doing as well as I thought it would be doing. If felt great yesterday but today it was getting sore after sitting with my legs crossed of walking lots. Hopefully will be getting some physio on it in thenext couple days. I am really missing training. I have done any real training since last tuesday, like the one before New Years which is a bummer. I am still going to the gym but working CORE, calf's, back and a tinny tiny bit of upper body. Hopefully by next week and I get in some decent training. Just heading off to Fire practice at the Fire Hall tonight......

The Start of 2009
So 2009 is here and only 2 months until the racing starts! The winter training is on. The new year didn't start off on the best note for me as I slightly injured my knee last Tuesday snowshoeing with Owen. It is only minor and will heal within a week to ten days. So hopefully by this weekend I will be full on for training. I missed a few big days last week which was disapointing but what can you do. Only 38 more days until the boys head down to Palm Springs for a training camp. The weather down there today was 59 which isn't too bad.
